Hello, What an overwhelming response to our latest BBC series War on Plastic with Hugh and Anita - thank you for such great feedback and fantastic support. Our battle doesn't end when the cameras stop rolling. We are asking shoppers everywhere to join us by writing a simple message to your supermarket – for eg, as Sir David Attenborough put it, "Supermarkets, for the sake of the planet, less plastic please!". Please share on our Social Media using the hashtag #OurPlasticFeedback. You can also watch and share our video clip featuring Sir David, Joanna Lumley, Dermot O'Leary and many other supporters HERE. Last week we had one of the best days of the year so far at River Cottage HQ, with the whole River Cottage team coming together for workshops, tastings, conversation and a celebratory BBQ. My own contribution was a "veggie barbie" of quartered little gem lettuces, whole baby onions, young broad beans still in the pod, and mangetout, finished with a simple dressing of lemon and olive oil, scattered with blanched baby peas and loads of chopped mint. Why not make this the "year of barbecuing vegetables"? Last, but by no means least, I would like to congratulate my friend and long-time River Cottage contributor Pam Corbin on the publication of her wonderful new preserves book, Pam the Jam. I'm sure my burgeoning crop of courgettes will soon become a glut – and when it does I'm looking forward to making Pam's delicious courgette chutney. Have a look at the recipe below. |
