It's been a great week at River Cottage. Alison Jackson, who today is at River Cottage for the final day of the first four-day cookery course since the fire, told the webteam: "The facilities are amazing - far more sophisticated then I was expecting." " It's great everything is up and running in time for our course. I've been cooking all my life and I still managed to learn new things, which was absolutely brilliant," she added before heading back to Wotton-under-Edge in Gloucestershire. Hugh paid his first visit to Park Farm to see for himself the damage on Monday. He returned from his long distance filming trip and headed straight for HQ, where he saw at first hand the amazing progress made by the River Cottage team to create a new space for events and our Cookery School. He produced a short video before holding a party to say 'thank you' to the firemen, suppliers and all the local people that played their part in recent weeks. "The gain outweighs the loss," he said. Meanwhile head of events Steven Lamb, together with head chef Gill Meller, hosted our first four-day cookery course since the dramatic events which destroyed our barn. It was a total success, and Steven created a video of his own, plus a blog update on the day. "It feels right," he said. We hope to see you soon!
