I've enjoyed the Christmas season in all sorts of different places down the years, but festive celebrations at River Cottage HQ are always among the best. The crisp winter landscape, with the December sun slung low in the Axe valley, is always a stunning welcome, as are the crackling fires, twinkling lights and evergreen boughs in the farmhouse and barn. After 12 years here, we've honed Christmas at River Cottage into a fine art!

We'll be sharing this festive know-how on our website and social media over the coming weeks, and posting our favourite seasonal recipes. Below you'll find Steven Lamb's celebratory smoked duck, and look out for Naomi Devlin's wonderful gluten-free Christmas food and Lucy Brazier's brilliant edible gifts, including an irresistible clove-scented lemon curd. I dropped in on Lucy's Christmas Hamper course last week, and I can confirm that this tempting treat is fun to make, lovely to give - and delicious to eat!

LINE UP NEWS
The latest name to be confirmed for the Food Fair is Samin Nosrat, author of Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat. Samin will join Yotam Ottolenghi and many others down on the farm next May.

Over the coming weeks, as we approach Christmas, we'll be sharing a selection of special festive recipes from the River Cottage chefs and tutors. On Tuesday, the River Cottage chefs headed to London's Savoy Hotel to deliver their first-ever vegan banquet. Hugh spoke to the assembled guests about the environmental importance of eating more plants.
